DIVERSITY WAS SEEN at its best at the US$1 million Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize event at Atlantis, The Palm, on Sunday night when a Hollywood superstar danced on a popular Bollywood track (with Indian stars) sung by a Pakistani star. Matthew McConaughey grooved to the popular song Khaike Paan Banaras Wala and Naache re Naache Madhubala with Parineeti Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan at the Gala evening that followed a red carpet event. Stars came out with full energy and gusto at the red carpet and spoke to the media with full enthusiasm.

DANCE MATTHEW DANCE

Parineeti was the first to join Ali Zafar on stage when he started the song. She came in with full force and sang and danced with her usual infectious energy. Abhishek Bachchan joined both of them when Ali sang his favourite number Naache Re Naache Madhubala from the movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

Matthew gracefully accepted Ali's invitation to dance on stage with the gang on Khaike Paan Benaras Waala from Don. The atmosphere was so electric that even McConaughey's wife Camila Alves couldn't resist and stepped on stage to join the fun gang. Camila surely gave some tough competition to Parineeti when it came to showing off her Indian 'thumkas'. It is rare to see celebrities let their hair down in full public view. The message that came through bright and clear was that you could be from any part of the world, but it is hard to resist the magic of Bollywood.

RED CARPET WONDER

All the stars in attendance were more than happy to pose alongside excited school children who had waited the whole evening to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.

Matthew also recited the story behind his famous scene from The Wolf of the Wall Street and how his co-star Leonardo DiCaprio made him do the special tune which became really popular amongst the masses.
