ALBAWABA - American model and Influencer Alex Consani caused quite a stir on social media after becoming the first transgender woman to be crowned 'Model of the Year' in London's 2024 Fashion Awards.
While many users on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) congratulated Consani calling the moment "Historic," some weren't so keen on the 21-year-old trans model's win, adding, " Something about this doesn’t feel right…"
The negative comments were quickly slammed by social media users who took Consani's side and said that the 'Model of the Year' award could've been given to any gender.

Alex Consani is also considered the world's youngest trans model since she started modeling at the age of 12.
As part of her acceptance speech, Alex Consani said, "I can't accept this award without thanking those who came before me, specifically the Black trans women who really fought for the space I'm in today."
According to CNN, Consani who's signed under IMG Models has been on a roll this year by collaborating with high-profile fashion brands including Chanel, Stella McCartney, and Victoria’s Secret.

A number of X users also expressed their disappointment about fellow American model Anok Yai not winning the award as someone said, "I actually hate the modeling industry how has Anok Yai been snubbed for model of the year for 4 YEARSSSSS, I like Alex Consani and she did her thing but come on."
