Al Janadriya Festival has become a biennial tradition in Saudi Arabia. It has recently concluded its seventh session which included a panorama of cultural, artistic and sports activities.
The opening ceremony of the festival included the opera of Unshudet al Oruba (The Anthem of Arabs) which was written by Saudi poet Ghazi al Qusaibi, composed by Saudi singer Mohammed Abdo and directed by the Syrian Najdat Anzour. The opera, which was performed with the participation of several singers from different Arab states including Noor Mhanna from Syria and Hani Shaker from Egypt, concentrates on pan Arab unity and the importance of firmly challenging threats.
The cultural activities of the event included a lecture given by Prince of Riyad Salman Bin Abdel Aziz on King Fahed and the Palestinian Question in which the lecturer talked about King Fahed’s role in defending the Palestinian issue.
The lecture was followed by a symposium on the Palestinian question. The participating researchers affirmed that no stability will be attained in the Middle East region without a just solution of the Palestine question that guarantees the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Two other symposiums were also held on Palestine question during the festival.
The cultural activities of the festival also included a lecture given by secretary general of the Arab League Amre Mousa on “A Future Vision of the Arab League.”
Other lectures were given on the stand of Islam concerning terrorism and globalization.
A book and a plastic art exhibitions were held on the sidelines of the festival. The Palestinian Intifada and the Islamic sacred places constituted the main themes of the two exhibitions – Albawaba.com
