ALBAWABA - An Egyptian court ruled today, Wednesday, to imprison artist Nisreen Tafesh on charges of sending bogus checks totaling four million pounds to a female citizen.

On October 6, the Misdemeanour Appellate Court denied the artist's appeal against her three-year prison sentence. Nisreen Tafesh had gone to the Forensic Medicine Authority to write her case in front of counterfeiting and counterfeiting experts, who would then compile a technical report and deliver it to the court. The court received a cheque for 4 million pounds, equivalent to 84378.39 USD

On January 30, 2023, the Public Prosecution assigned the artist to the Sheikh Zayed District of Giza Governorate and, in bad faith, issued a check in favor of the victim, Nashwa Safaa El-Din, for 4 million pounds.

The victim's defense provided a scanned copy of bank checks from the same date, containing an order from the accused to the bank to pay the victim the amount, accompanied by the accused's signature, as well as a scanned copy of the bank rejecting the check owing to insufficient funds.

According to the case papers, the artist issued a check in bad faith because the plaintiff went to the bank to cash it and was astonished to find that there was no corresponding withdrawable sum, despite the accused's knowledge of the situation.

The October Misdemeanour Court of the South Giza Court of First Instance, 16th Circuit, earlier ordered to reject artist Nisreen Tafesh's objection to her three-year incarceration in Case No. 1636 of 2023, upholding the first-instance verdict.

Actress Nisreen Tafesh and her defense did not attend today's session.
