250 artists to participate in Arab Pioneers Festival

Cairo will host the second Arab Pioneers Festival which will be held during the period between October 7-9, 2002 under the sponsorship of the Arab League, according to the Kuwaiti daily al Rai al A’m. 

The festival’s secretary general Abdo Ballan said that 250 innovators from 18 Arab countries would participate in the festival in eight fields including cinema, stage, radio, TV, singing, music, formation art, press, caricature and scientific and art creativity.  

He added that a higher committee has been formed for the festival comprising of the Egyptian surgeon Ahmed Shafiq as chairman and actress Samiha Ayyoub as deputy chairman. Members of the committee included the head of the Syrian Artist Association, Sabah Fakhri, ambassador Esam Hawwas, head of the International Union for Arab Inventors, Abdulla al Ahmed, the deputy head of the UAE Science Club, Saqer Majed al Mirri, head of the Sudanese Inventors society, Anwar al Hadi Abdel Rahman, member of the Lebanese Formation Artists Society Samia Alloh and poet Khaled Abu al E’nain as members. 

“The festival will include a number of activities such as conferences, meetings and documentary and narrative film screening in addition to two concerts in which an elite group of singing stars in the Arab World will participate. These include Shadi al Khaleej and Ghirreed al Shate from Kuwait, Bascal Mashalani and Walid Tawfiq from Lebanon, Abdulla Balkhair from the UAE, Abu Baker Salem from Saudi Arabia, Elias Karam from Syria, Nasir Shammah and A’ed al Mashad from Iraq, Ismael Hanafi and Nahawand from Jordan, Mohammed Munir and Ahmed al Sunbati from Egypt in addition to the Eastern and Faloujah Chord Troupes from Palestine,” said Ballan -- Albawaba.com
