Preparations are under way for the 12th Damascus Film Festival which is going to be held next October, according to Syrian Times.
The Egyptian participation in the festival will be represented by “Souk Al Motaa” (The Pleasure Market).
“Souk Al Motaa”, directed by Samir Seif and written by Wahid Hamed, deals with the concept of freedom in a daring and deeply philosophical abroach.
The film, which is the story of a convict who is released after 20 years in prison, tackles a blend of social issues, mainly, society’s attitudes towards prisoners.
The events of the film take place within the lower income bracket in Cairo.
The film is starred by Mahmoud Abdel Aziz and Ilham Shahin.
“Souk Al Motaa” participated in the Cairo International Film Festival last year and Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz received the Best Actor award – Albawaba.com
