Syrian director Youef Risk began shooting his new series temporarily entitled Wardah Li Kharif al Omr (Rose for the Old Age) which will be the first part of three for a series consisting of 100 episodes, according to the UAE daily al Bayan.
The three parts which Khairi al Thahabi is currently writing tackle the social, economic and important developments which took place in Syria over four decades starting from the fifties until the nineties.
The series 30-episode first part will be shot at the ancient markets and neighborhoods in Damascus, Homs and Hama in addition to Afamia and Salahiddin Citadel with the number of shooting sites reaching about 200.
A large number of Syrian drama artists will take roles in the series including actresses Muna Wasef, Fadia Khattab, Marah Jaber, Carice Bashar, Amanah al Wali, Waha al Raheb, Nisreen al Hakim, Laila Sammour, Najah Hafeez and Nadin.
Among the actors who will participate in the series are Rafiq Sbaie’i, Asaad Fiddah, Jihad Saad, Hasan Dakkak, Salim Kalllas, Aref al Tawil, Samer al Masri, Feras Ibrahim and Abed Fahed. The production will be under the supervision of George Haddad.
“My direction imaginations stemmed from the script which includes a large number of interrelated and overlapping drama lines. I attempted to develop the script into a number of stories and drama lines with a beginning, complex and an end for each in an integrated drama way and within a bigger drama framework. This framework is the series main story, which I will deliver to the viewers without sophistication or direction complication,” the director told the paper -- Albawaba.com
