The new TV film Shadia by the Moroccan director Edris Shwaikah tells the romantic story of a plastic artist who faces financial difficulties, which constitute an obstacle in the way of achieving his dreams and aspirations.

The artist meets a rich lady who exploits his need of money and tempts him to marry her. He feels unhappy with the marriage despite the money which his wife gives him as he the image of a beautiful woman keeps chasing him in his sleep and during the day. It is an image drawn by his imagination on one of his paintings and is about to become real.

The film blends reality with fantasy, a characteristic that distinguishes Shwaikah in most of his TV artwork including Samt al Lail (Night’s Silence) which is about ghosts that dwell houses and the film Dhidd al Tayyar (Across the Current) which tackles some psychological problems.

Shwaikah tapped model Sanaa Mubtasem to play the starring role in the film to mark her debut in acting. Costarring in the film also Rashid al Wali, Abdel Latif Hilal and A’eshah Sajed.

The Moroccan satellite channel will air the film Shadia next Saturday -- Albawaba.com
