Egyptian actress Yusra is leading an active life these days, with plans to shoot her new film Rish Al Na’am (Ostrich Feathers) at the end of this month.
The film was scripted by Magedah Kheirallayh and Ali Bader Khan has been nominated to direct, according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.
“During the 10 months that followed my last film Al A’sefah (Thunderstorm), I read more than 12 scripts but did not find anything encouraging or tempting for me to leave home for the studio. It was not until I read the script for Rish Al Naa’am (Ostrich Feathers) that I found a new idea and a different role from almost all the similar roles offered to me,” Yusra told the daily.
She added, “the film combines romance, action and thought by tackling fundamentalism in the minds and practices of Egyptian youth in years past.”
A number of new actors have been nominated to take starring roles in the film, including Fathi Abdel Wahab and Amr Waked.
Meanwhile, Yusra agreed to return to the stage after producer Esam Imam convinced her to play the starring role in Lamma Baba Ynam (When My Dad Sleeps) along with A’laa Waley Eddin, Ashraf Abdel Baqi and Ahmed Hilmi. The play, in which Shireen Seif Al Naser was originally nominated to take the starring role, was earlier halted for production reasons.
Yusra signed the agreement along with the other stars in a small party Friday evening at Naser City Theater, which will host the run.
