Shooting of the Egyptian film Sehr al Oyoun (Eyes Charm) has recently been wrapped up, marking actress Nuha al Amrousi’s debut in screenwriting.
Amrousi was supposed to play the starring role in the film but she preferred not to perform in the first film scripted by her.
Costarring in the film directed by Fakhriddin Nageedah, are Amer Munib, Hala Shiha, Hasan Hosni, Nelly Karam and Sawsan Bader.
“The film belongs to the comedy romantic genre and depicts the girls’ resorting to magic and fraud seeking solutions for their romantic problems, which has become a widespread phenomenon in many societies. This phenomenon has spread in the various levels of classes despite the technological advance and reflected the lagging style of thinking currently prevailing,” Amrousi told the daily al Hayat.
Amrousi had the opportunity while young to participate in two major films: Haddouta Misriyyah (Egyptian Story) directed by Yousef Shahin and Endama Yabki al Rigal (When Men Cry) directed by Husam al Din Mustafa. Then she joined the Higher Cinema Institute and played many important roles in the films Gazeerat al Shaitan (Devil’s Island), Shams al Zinati starring Adel Imam and Hysteria Starring Ahmed Zaki as well as plays and TV series.
Amrousi expressed her delight with the youth’s films…She has very often dreamt of such films with the youth constituting all their elements. “This does not mean that all these films will be terrific and good, but it would enough for people to see a new type of cinema with new faces. As all films in other parts of the world there are good and bad films,” said Amrousi.
As for the comedy nature of the film, Amrousi said, “the fans want like this as they have many problems in their daily life and want to go to the cinema to enjoy seeing films and laughing in order to have entertainment and get rid of the tension inside them.” -- Albawaba.com
