Emirati follows friend’s recommendation and wins AED 1 million with Dubai Bank

In line with its commitment to help customers build their prosperity, Dubai Bank today named an Emirati as the June winner of the Kunooz Savings Account draw. Mr. Eisa Mohamed Abdalla AlHammadi, an Abu Dhabi-based government official, had a welcome surprise when he was informed he was the winner of the million dirham Kunooz cash prize draw.

The monthly Kunooz one million dirham draw is part of Dubai Bank’s strategy to reward its valued customers and grow their net worth. AlHammadi, 34, opened his Kunooz account in 2009 on the advice of his friend. Looking for a good home for some extra savings, he was told to consider the Kunooz account given its savings potential and the opportunity to generate optimal returns.

With daily cash prizes, AlHammadi was always optimistic that he would win with Kunooz. However, judging by his reaction to the phone call from Dubai Bank, clearly he did not expect to win the grand prize.

“My first reaction to hearing that I’d won the Kunooz grand prize was that it was my friend playing a practical joke. In fact, it took about five minutes on the phone before I actually believed I’d won,” AlHammadi said. When asked what he planned to do with his winnings, he replied: “My wife and I will now decide, but we plan to use the money to purchase a property.”

The Cheque was handed to the winner, in a special ceremony, by Mr. Waleed Saeed Al Awadi, Head of Branches and Royal Banking, Deputy Chief Marketing Officer who said “Kunooz Account is an example of the many tools that Dubai Bank use to help encourage its customers save while walking the extra mile to nurture their savings at their own convenience.”

Under the Kunooz monthly cash prize promotion, each multiple of AED 1,000 deposited in the Kunooz Account qualifies the customer for multiple entries into the draw for daily cash prizes of AED 30,000. For every multiple of AED 5,000 deposited, account holders become eligible for entry into the monthly grand prize draw of AED 1 million. The programme also offers participants the possibility to win more than once.
