Emarat receives a copy of "Civil Aviation in Dubai, the Establishment and the Future, 1937-2020"

Mr. Abdulrahman Qassim Al Ali, Commercial Sales Manager at Emarat, received a copy of "Civil Aviation in Dubai, the Establishment and the Future, 1937-2020", the first book written in Arabic that covers a period of more than 70 years, starting with the first plane that had ever landed on the waters of Dubai creek in 1937. The book goes on to point out the targets until 2020, and it comes within the civil aviation's celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the first airport in Dubai in 1960.
The book was delivered when Mr. Abdulrahman received, at his office in Emarat, Mr Ghassan Amhaz, director of media relations at Dubai Airports Corporation and the author of the book. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Salem Bin Suloom, Manager Aviation Sales, and Mr. Nassar bin Nassar, Manager Aviation Operations.
Mr. Abdulrahman praised Mr Ghassan's efforts in issuing and writing such a book that documents authentically the establishment of civil aviation in Dubai, and focuses on the various developments of aviation, including the increasing numbers of passengers, the construction of state of the art facilities, and the provision of great services, which made Dubai's airport one of the most important in the world.
The book's chapters, from the first to the ninth, cover the history of the aviation sector in Dubai, from 1937 until 1979, as they describe the development and growth as documented by various agreements which was entered by Dubai government and the British Aviation Ministry, all before the first airport had opened its doors. The remaining chapters talk about the airport's activities from the late seventies until 2010, in addition to the prospects and targets, including increasing the number of passengers passing through Dubai Airport to 98 million by 2020. The book also documents how Dubai Airport managed to become the fourth biggest airport in the world with regards to number of international passengers. The author further documented the largest expansion operation of the airport, which was executed over three phases, and how its capacity was raised from 10 million to 75 million annual passenger.
A whole chapter was dedicated to Emirates Airlines, and how the aviation sector in Dubai was launched in 1985, when Emirates first plane flew across the skies towards Karatchi. The same chapter includes interviews and information that are published for the first time, relating to Emirates Airlines role in enhancing the local economy and supporting the tourism sector, in addition to opinions of tourism experts who emphasized that the tourism sector in Dubai was born with the launch of Emirates Airlines.
