ALBAWABA - Zhou Chuna, a young girl who is captivated by her favorite celebrity, went to extraordinary lengths to gain fame on social media. Over the span of five years, she has spent a whopping $563000 on plastic surgery, in hopes of resembling her idol and attract attention online.

Zhou's story was first covered by Chinese media, where light was shed on her obsession with cosmetic procedures from a young age age. At just 18, she underwent over 100 surgeries, funded entirely by her parents, the goal being to mirror the beauty of Chinese actress Esther Yu.

Her journey began at the age of 13, full of insecurities about her appearance stemming from school taunts. Determined to transform herself, she started a relentless pursuit of beauty, even leaving her education behind to dedicate herself wholly to plastic surgery.

Despite warnings from her doctor, Zhou pressed on, undeterred by the risks. Refused further procedures by local doctors, she went to countless plastic surgery hospitals in Shanghai instead.

Her hardest surgery, the "bone shave" operation, shows how determined she is. Enduring over 10 hours under anesthesia, Zhou spent 15 days confined to bed, subsisting solely on fluids.

Zhou's drastic measures show the pressure young people might face in today's digital age, where social media dictates beauty standards and defines success.

As Zhou's story continues, it is important to remember that what's on the outside is not all that matters, and if someone isn't ready to give you the time to see what's on the inside, they likely weren't  worth your time to begin with.
