ALBAWABA A businesswoman in Hyderabad has been arrested by police for allegedly stalking and kidnapping a TV music channel anchor, purportedly with the intent of marrying him, authorities stated on Friday.
The arrest came following claims that the woman had employed tactics such as installing a tracking device on the victim's vehicle to monitor his movements.
Reportedly, the 31-year-old businesswoman, who operates a digital marketing venture, initially encountered photos of the TV anchor on a matrimonial website two years ago.
Engaging with the profile holder, she later discovered that the individual was using the TV anchor's image instead of their own.
Determined to proceed with her plans of marriage, the woman allegedly orchestrated the kidnapping, enlisting the help of four individuals for the task. Additionally, she purportedly equipped the victim's vehicle with a tracking device to monitor his movements.
On February 11, the hired individuals reportedly carried out the abduction, transporting the victim to the woman's office where he was subjected to physical assault.
Fearing for his safety, the TV anchor acquiesced to the woman's demands before being released.
Following the incident, the victim filed a complaint with the Uppal police station, prompting authorities to register a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including kidnapping and wrongful confinement.
In the course of their investigation, law enforcement apprehended both the businesswoman and the four individuals allegedly involved in the kidnapping plot.
