President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday marked May Day in a message, one day ahead of the International Workers’ Day.
In his message, Erdogan congratulated all workers and laborers who played an important role in Turkey’s growth and development.
"I wish that May Day, which is celebrated as the day of unity and solidarity of workers and laborers across the world, will conduce to a fair working environment," he said.
The president underlined that his government adopted several measures and programs to increase employment and reduce unemployment.

"Taking into account all the demands of our laborers expressed democratically, we will continue our efforts to solve the problems of our workers and improve the living conditions with all the government institutions, unions and NGOs,” he added.
May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, dedicated to workers around the world, is a public holiday in many countries, including Turkey.
