Candles for Nursing Graduates Held in Jordan

HRH Princess Muna, president of the Jordanian Nursing Council and patron for nursing and midwifery in the eastern Mediterranean region, on Sunday inaugurated a candle-lighting ceremony for the Princess Muna College of Nursing’s 10th graduating class.

The princess lit candles for the graduates, who took an oath to uphold the teachings of nursing to the best of their ability, fulfil their duties with the utmost dedication and selflessness and respect the privacy of patients.

Dean of the Princess Muna College of Nursing Hala Obeidat expressed the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army’s (JAF) pride in Jordanian women who work within the military, especially those in healthcare positions, the Jordan News Agency, reported.

Obeidat said that the celebration was a step in preparing students for a more comprehensive phase of service for their country.

At the end of the ceremony, the director of the Royal Medical Services presented Princess Muna with a plaque in appreciation of her efforts and continuous support, Petra reported.

The annual celebration signals the end of the academic phase for students of nursing and medical professions and the beginning of their careers.

Candles are said to represent hope, and are lighted during periods of war to provide illumination and aid efforts to rescue the injured.

The celebration was attended by the president and vice president of Mutah University’s military affairs, as well as a number of high-ranking JAF officials.
