World's oldest Hajj pilgrim, aged 130, arrives in Saudi Arabia(Video)

ALBAWABA In a remarkable and inspiring journey, 130-year-old Surhuda Stiti from Algeria has captured global attention as she embarks on her first-ever Hajj pilgrimage. 

Born in 1894, Surhuda has become the oldest Hajj pilgrim ever, making her story a beacon of faith, resilience, and devotion.

Surhuda Stiti's journey to Mecca is not just a testament to her enduring spirit but also a historic moment for the Hajj pilgrimage. Her passport, which confirms her birthdate as July 6, 1894, shows that she was born in Ain El Arbi in the Guelma province of Algeria. 

Despite her advanced age and reliance on a wheelchair, Surhuda is in good health and high spirits as she prepares to perform the sacred rites of Hajj.

This year, she will celebrate her 130th birthday in Saudi Arabia, coinciding with her participation in the Hajj pilgrimage. Her story has resonated widely, bringing a sense of wonder and admiration from around the world.

Television stations and media outlets have flocked to capture Surhuda's extraordinary journey. She arrived in Saudi Arabia accompanied by her granddaughter, Janet, who is also elderly.

From the airport, she traveled towards Mecca, joining approximately 1.3 million pilgrims who have come to perform Hajj this year.
