A Saudi man who has performed Hajj on foot for two successive years, for his mother and the late Prince Naif respectively, is doing so again this year, but this time for King Abdul Aziz, the late founder of the kingdom.
According to local reports, Nasser Jarallah Al-Qahtani drove from his home in Khamis Mushayet to Riyadh, and then began his trip on foot from the al-Oud Cemetery on Dul Qaada 9, or Aug. 24. He is expected to arrive in Makkah on Tuesday.
Travelers posted a video interview and photographs of Al-Qahtani with another young man walking along the side of the road carrying Saudi Arabia’s flag.
Al-Qahtani’s decision to perform Hajj on foot and declining any assistance along the way has surprised many Saudis.
