The Emirati, who fears her debts will land her in jail, says she will happily travel to Iran to have her kidney removed because selling organs is legal there.
The 45-year-old, who wants to remain anonymous so her three children do not hear of her plight, told 7DAYS: “I am desperate. I am about to be thrown out of the house I rent and I have nobody to turn to. I have tried everything. I have tried selling gold, selling oil and made so many job applications I’ve lost count.
“If I was a bad woman I could have found a man to give me money but I would never do that. I can’t see any other option than to sell my kidney. My blood is group O-negative, which is rare, so I hope I get more for it.”
The woman said she clocked up the debt mostly in rent arrears. She said: “My landlord has been more than reasonable but he couldn’t carry on and has now taken me to the rent committee.
“I’ve asked everywhere for help. I looked into the scheme for Emiratis to get a home but it means buying and you need an income of Dhs7,000 a month for that. I feel like a beggar.
“I know I’m not the only divorced Emirati woman in this position with debts but I just can’t go on like this.”
