The duo denied the charge in court.

Two men have been accused of embezzling ice cream in Abu Dhabi worth Dh111,000 ($30,214).

The second accused, a salesman, also gave the first accused a Dh5,000 ($1,361) bribe to cover up the crime.

In the court hearing, the second accused claimed that he had returned the ice cream goods (worth Dh111,000) to his employer.

He said that he discovered Dh4,000 ($1,088) worth of ice cream was missing. He asked the first accused to not inform the company until he could find and return the amount.

The first accused agreed out of courtesy, the man claimed, and he didn't take any money for his kindness.

The first accused also denied accepting the bribe and demanded he be let out on bail as he was imprisoned for six months. The court adjourned the hearing till October 17.
