Leila Trabelsi, who was mired in the corruption of her husband Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali's regime, is to publish a book on the days leading up to her escape from the country following a popular uprising.

The wife of ousted Tunisian president Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali, Leila Trabelsi, is to publish a book revealing the secrets of the last hours of her husband's regime. Trabelsi and her family fled to Saudi Arabia on 14 January 2011 following a mass uprising.

Trabelsi said that she would be releasing the book, My Truth, in French in May. It will be published by a French publishing house and distributed by Amazon.

Trabelsi and Ben Ali live in Saudi Arabia, which has hosted them since they fled Tunisia and has refused many calls from the new Tunisian government to hand them over for trial.

The greed and corruption of Trabelsi and her family put up to a third of the Tunisian economy in its hands. This was a major factor behind the revolution that led to the regime's downfall.
