Qataris and Israelis may seem like odd bedfellows, but they definitely have one thing in common: they love themselves…in pictures, that is!

According to TIME Magazine's survey of the top 100 cities in the world with the most selfie photo snapshots, Doha ranked first in the Arab World and 42nd overall and Tel Aviv ranked number six globally.

Tel Aviv allegedly has 139 avid "selfie enthusiasts" per 100,000 people, according to Haaretz's report on the survey. Doha, on the other hand has an average of 52 per 100,000 people, according to Arabian Business.

TIME used the application Instagram to collect data on which cities are home to the most of these so-called selfies where individuals snap portraits of themselves usually on a smartphone camera and often upload it to social media websites.

Other top self(ie)-obsessed MENA cities included in the top 100 were Dubai at 63rd, Abu Dhabi at 87th and Sharjah at 92nd.

TIME reported that the top selfie-city is Makati City and Pasig in the Philippines, followed by Manhattan New York City, Miami, Anaheim and Santa Ana, California.

Oxford Dictionaries named "selfie" the word of 2013.
