Saudi Women Might be Exempt from Some Driving Penalties

Published November 22nd, 2017 - 07:11 GMT

After allowing women to drive in Sept. 2017, following royal decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia is looking at exempting women from some traffic violation penalties.

Al Arabiya reported that some of the penalties are not suitable for women.

Some of the exemptions would include stopping the vehicle to question the driver of a vehicle or detaining the vehicle, the story further states.

A press conference will be held next week providing more clarity on the new sanctions and the date from when women can start learning to drive in different parts of the country.
