Perhaps Saudi Arabia's religious police are not so "virtuous" after all.
According to Reuters, three members of KSA's Committee for the Promotion of Virture and the Prevention of Vice were dismissed from their posts after reports came out last week that the three were involved in beating an Aghan woman in a park in Mecca.
Saudi's Al Watan Arabic daily said that one of the three officers beat the 27-year-old woman on her head shortly before the evening prayer. The officer said he was "merely [reminding] her of the prayer time verbally" and that he did not cause her physical injuries.
Another officer was allegedly present when the incident occurred as well.
The religious police authority has "taken care" of the issue by "relocating" the two officers along with the head of Mecca's religious police branch not to jail or to a court....but "merely" to other branches throughout the kingdom, according to Reuters.
No information was provided on what happened to the woman following the incident.
