An anonymous philanthropist has donated more than SR 2 million (over $500,000) to the Directorate General of Prisons to help 63 prisoners reunite with their parents and families during Eid Al-Fitr.

The donation will benefit prisoners convicted of crimes against the public interest in the cities and towns of Riyadh, Jeddah, Hail, Arar, Taif, Baha, Najran, the northern border area and the Eastern Province.

Brig. Gen. Mohsen bin Muhammad Al-Taweel, director of guidance and direction management and chairman of the payment committee, said the prisoners received the news with joy.

Al-Taweel expressed his thanks to the donor for giving prisoners the chance to spend Eid with their parents and families, especially in the holy month.
