A joint team of the anti-alcohol unit and the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (Haia) uncovered a pond flowing with liquor outside Khamis Mushayt city.

Haia spokesman Awad Al-Asmari said the teams were tracking bootleggers in the eastern part of Khamis Mushayt governorate, which led to the discovery of a number of distilleries and the pond.

The pond, which contained over 385 barrels of liquor, was covered and the site handed over to concerned authorities.

Al-Asmari appealed to owners of abandoned wells to secure them so that they are not used for illegal purposes.
