A young man has stood trial at the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanor Court on charges of posting a pornographic video of a woman and sharing information about her on social media, mainly Facebook.

The suspect, an Arab resident, denied all the charges against him before the court.

He said: "I have not posted any pornographic video of the woman."

He added that he received the widely shared video in a message on his Facebook account.

"I just watched it like other users, and did not share it."

The accused admitted that he recorded a video in his voice and posted it on social media, but denied using abusive language against the woman.

The plaintiff told the court that the defendant posted a fabricated video footage of her on social media to shame and defame her as she is a "famous" woman.

The defence lawyer asked the court to release his client and said all the charges pressed against him were baseless.

The court, having heard the defence lawyer's pleading, ordered adjournment of the case to the end of the month when the verdict would be announced.
