A man has died after falling into the sea while his friend desperately clung to rocks while trying to save him.
A rescue mission was sparked following reports that a fisherman had fallen down a cliff and that his companion had become stranded on rocks trying to help.
Police, lifeboat volunteers and HM Coastguard crews were called to Pigeons Cave on the Great Orme headland in Llandudno, North Wales at about 7.30am.
A crew from RNLI Llandudno rescued the man from the water and took him to shore where a helicopter was waiting, but he later died in hospital.
The second man was rescued from the rocks and treated by paramedics after becoming 'extremely cold.'
An RNLI spokeswoman said: 'Llandudno lifeboat recovered a male casualty clinging to rocks on Great Orme's Head and a second male casualty was found and recovered in the water.'
