A young man shot and wounded his girlfriend outside a Mount Lebanon pub late Sunday after she turned down his marriage proposal, a security report said. He then turned the gun on himself and fired a shot at his head.
They both survived.
The report, obtained by The Daily Star, said Rami Jaafar, 23, got into an argument with his 26-year-old girlfriend, Lubna Ahmadieh, and fired four shots at her with a pistol outside a pub in Aley, about 18 kilometers east of Beirut.
Ahmadieh was shot in the arm and leg. She told police that Jaafar shot her after she rejected his marriage proposal since they had only known each other for two months.
Jaafar was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head outside the pub. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is in critical condition.
