Agence France-Presse reported Friday that Jewish extremists chopped down fruit trees that belong to Israeli Arabs in an alleged "revenge attack" against Palestinian villagers who allegedly beat up Jewish settlers earlier this week.
The Israeli vandals targeted an orchard near the Israeli Arab town of Kfar Qasim, 40 kilometers (25 miles) west of Qusra, and left notes in the orchard reading, " Regards from Esh Kodesh" in a direct reference to the Jewish settlement area where Palestinian villagers attacked the the settlers.
Seven settlers involved in the orchard destruction were detained Thursday night.
In terms of the alleged revenge attack, the Palestinian government "paid tribute" to the villagers Thursday, noting that the people "acted in self-defense" against repeated assaults perpetuated by the settlers from Esh Kodesh.
