Presidential candidate, Mohamed Selim Al-Awa, has rejected calls for having power transferred to the new elected head of the People’s Assembly.

“The President of the People’s Assembly was elected to be a member in the parliament – not the country’s president”, insisted Al-Awa, reported MENA.

Various political forces had called for an end to the transitional period through having power transferred to the head of the People’s Assembly - until Presidential Elections take place.

Al-Awa, who intends to go to Tahrir Square on Wednesday to celebrate the revolution’s first anniversary, predicts that protests of that day will be civil and peaceful.
