A patient, angry that a doctor tried to shave his body hair to perform an operation, called his friends to open fire on a Baalbek hospital Monday, sources said.
The patient, a member of the Zeaiter family, was drawn into a verbal dispute with the surgeon who told him he would need to shave stomach hair to perform surgery on his kidney.
The situation quickly escalated as the patient, concerned that his masculinity was at stake, dialed his friends, the source told The Daily Star.
The gunmen swiftly arrived in a Grande Cherokee before opening fire on the Mortada Hospital. The attack caused some material damage to the second floor of the hospital, but no casualties were reported.
The source said that the surgeon and patient were related.
