Gadhafi-Land? Dictator's complex to be amusement park

Turning a brutal dictator's palace complex into an amusement park is certainly one way to reshape his legacy. And, according to an AFP report, that's just what authorities in Libya plan to do. 

Citing Tourism Minister Ikram Basha Imam, the news agency reported that private companies have already been contracted to build the amusement park at the site of Moammar Gadhafi's sprawling Bab al-Aziziya compound. The fortified site in Tripoli was destroyed by NATO air raids, rebel attacks and subsequent looting. 

AFP said earlier plans for the compound site included a library and a monument to victims, but that idea was scrapped in favor of the entertainment area. 

The AFP report was short on details of what the park will include. But given Gadhafi's distinctive style, there could be major merchandising opportunities for curly black wigs, huge sunglasses and replica golden guns ...
