Mohamed And Ghayth, or Jennifer, as he likes to be called, are the first Lebanese gay couple brave enough to demand equal rights live on Lebanese television.

Al Jadeed TV hosted the couple along with Sheikh Ali Yousef representing the Islamic party and Pier Abi Saab representing the Liberal party.

Both men declared their love for each other and their intent to get married. Mohamed said, “I feel so jealous with Ghayth and I am afraid that someone might steal him away from me, I want to marry him.” He added, “we have been in a very serious relationship for four years now and we are crazy about each other”.

Sheikh Yousef explained that homosexuality is forbidden in Islam. His opinion is that the principal purpose of marriage is to create a family and produce children and in such case this can’t be done.

Mr. Abi Saab had a different opinion, saying, “homosexuals have the right to live according to their desire regardless of what religion thinks, religion's role is only inside mosques and churches.”

The couple said they want to live with each other as husband and wife and wish to adopt a child together.
