A 15-year-old Swedish girl recruited by al-Nusra Front has been captured by Daesh in Syria after running away from her foster home in Sweden with her boyfriend, AFP reported.
The Swedish foreign ministry has remained tight-lipped about the case, but several details have emerged from Swedish media reports.
According to AFP, Swedish daily Expressen and local paper Boras Tidning reported that the 15-year-old girl, who has so far remained anonymous, disappeared from her foster home in Boras, near the southwestern town of Gothenburg, on May 31.
The girl then reportedly traveled to Syria via Turkey with her 19-year-old boyfriend, where they were recruited by al-Qaeda affiliated al-Nusra Front.
The couple were captured by members of Daesh in Aleppo in early August, AFP reported.
According to media reports, the girl has twice contacted her parents while in captivity from a cell phone she had been loaned in secret.
The Swedish daily Expressen reported that the girl is six months pregnant.
