A Syrian worker was detained by the Internal Security Forces overnight Saturday, after he faked his own kidnapping to miss work and go on a date with his girlfriend.
Mohammad Kasab told his employers that he was kidnapped and assaulted by an anonymous group in Nabatieh, south Lebanon.
Kasab also alleged that his captors had videotaped him as they forced him to curse unnamed political figures.
The general prosecutor in Nabatieh, Ghada Abu Karoum, issued an arrest warrant for Kasab after security forces in Nabatieh uncovered Kasab’s lie.
Further investigation by the ISF’s Information Branch revealed that Kasab had fabricated the kidnapping to cover up the real reason he had missed work - to meet up with his girlfriend.
