Voters proceed casting their votes in the first phase of the Shura Council elections where the turnout has been low.

Cairo:

-         Low turnout at Heliopolis’s polling stations

-         Absence of Coptic Egyptians from polling stations due to Al-Masryeen Al-Ahrrar’s withdrawal from the elections

-         Facebook page calls for elections boycott in Bani Helal

-         Asyut governor, General Sayed Al-Borei, goes on a tour to inspect the electoral process in the governorate

-         Strong police presence – unlike the previous elections where the army took lead to secure the process

-         No clashes were reported

-         5 judges were injured in a car accident on their way to monitor the elections in Asyut

 

South Sinai

-         Low turnout due to armed robbery of Money Exchange office in Sharm Al-Sheikh

-         Decision to combine some polling stations caused delay in Dahab, Al-Toor and Sharm Al-Sheikh

Menoufeya
