Even though it's been nearly two months since former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was ousted, tensions are still running high in Egypt.
With the country divided (roughly) in two camps - those who are in favour of Morsi and those who back the General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the head of the military who deposed the Islamist ruler - one Egyptian farmer learned that hard way that things in Egypt are a long way from normal.
Omar Abu al-Magd Ali al-Saghir, 31, was arrested late on Friday in the central province of Qena for allegedly insulting the Sisi, state news agency MENA reported, according to AFP.
Al Saghir's crime? Naming his donkey General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and accessorising his mule with an army cap.
The farmer was taken away by police forces after riding his donkey triumphantly through his village, an act deemed "directly insulting to the army", MENA and AFP reported.
Sisi, who ousted Morsi on July 3, is vice prime minister and defence minister of Egypt's interim government, as well as army chief.
He is hugely popular among the large segment of Egyptian society that called for Morsi's ouster, and his portrait is plastered across shop windows, cars, walls and graffiti in Egypt, according to AFP.
Since Morsi's ouster, the authorities have launched a massive crackdown on Islamists who regularly call anti-military protests.
