Dubai cops have revealed that 95 people have been arrested and 7kg of the drug Spice has been seized since the substance became illegal in the UAE earlier this year.
The head of anti-narcotics at Dubai Police, General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, said: “We started warning the public about Spice earlier this year as it was spreading among the youth and people were getting addicted to it.
“It is a very dangerous drug that is manufactured in Europe. People used to buy it and get it sent to them

Mahdi added: “The plants are mixed with chemicals and can cause serious damage to the body. It can cause death. We are working with customs to help stop it being smuggled into the country.”
Mahdi also revealed that his department had seen an increase in drug offences this year, with 872 drug cases compared to 806 last year. There have also been 1,222 people arrested for drugs-related offences.
Al Mahdi reiterated what he told 7DAYS earlier this year, that the increase was due to the force going after big-time drug dealers.
“We are focusing more on the big drugs heads and arresting the big guys. We have arrested many drug leaders this year with big drugs hauls.”
