Brooklyn based fashion brand UZINYC has listed a dress on their website retailing for $120 as the 'Refugee Dress'...
The dress, (pictured above) seems to be made out of a very thin material, sleeveless and relatively shapeless. Apart from being quite hideous, the 'Refugee Dress' embodies an incredibly ignorant, twisted and unhelpful view of 'refugees' .

Either UNZINYC are attempting to cash in on some Brooklyn hipsters who like social justice and shopping alike or they are intentionally causing a stir as part of some tragic marketing ploy. Either way it isn't working.
Refugees, just like dresses, come in all shapes and sizes.
Not all refugees are poor or should be stereotyped as peasants wearing cloth dresses and sandals. People from all over the world seek asylum for reasons ranging from political marginalisation and religious discrimination to escaping war or simply seeking a better life.
What is most disturbing seems to be UNZINYC's fetishization of a vulnerable section of US society. There's something quite sick about paying $120 to emulate the look of a 'refugee' girl.
It gets better though, on their facebook page the brand claim to make fabulous clothing for 'Urban Nomads'. Urban Nomad? Can someone explain this to us please?
Nomadic societies are not homogeneous, they exist in almost every corner of the world, they dont share physical attributes and they most definitely dont share clothing styles. The only aspect linking them together is that they tend to live in RURAL areas - rendering the term 'Urban' Nomads ridiculous.
