An Islamic community in the Texan town of Farmersville was threatened by angry bigots for wanting to build a Muslim graveyard on a proposed piece of land, Buzzfeed reports.
The Islamophobes in a town meeting on the issue went as far to say they would pour pig blood and throw pig heads on the premises if plans for the cemetery went ahead, according to CBS.
A local resident actually said she was worried children would become “indoctrinated” with Islam and that she didn’t want a “Muslim dumping ground” in her town.
“I do not want my child indoctrinated towards their religion. I do not want to be constantly in view of a mosque,” Gwen Kakaska told the Farmersville Times.
Mosque? We thought it was a cemetery?
It gets worse. Another woman deemed Muslim burial standards as unsatisfactory, therefore she was concerned the cemetery would have an impact on the town’s drinking water.
“The bodies are generally above the water we get rain just like we did it’s going to be in our drinking system,” Patricia Munroe proclaimed, according to CBS.
Another hygiene expert (note the sarcasm), agreed.
“When somebody dies they bury them at that time,” Tory Gosnell said to the American news network. “All they do is wrap them in a sheet from the grave and bury them.”
Because Muslims have never heard of coffins, right?
The Islamic Association of Collin County (IACC), who proposed the graveyard actually had to justify that the site would not be associated with “terrorist activity”.
“They are fearful of what they don’t understand and hopefully it’s an opportunity for us to come together and learn a little bit more about each other and hopefully dispel some of those misconceptions,” the IACC said in a press release.
Another day, another Islamophobic community in the US.
