A total of 65 CVs from all Dubai Women’s College (DWC) programs were screened and 135 students attended career related workshops at “CV Clinic” week organized by the CAREERS department from 1st- 5th May 2011.

The “CV Clinic” week, considered as one of the resources to start to prepare DWC students towards successful employability, was an opportunity for unemployed students, graduating students and other students seeking part time and summer employment to revise their CVs and be prepared for the job market.

The objective of the CV clinic was to assist students to develop quality CVs that would make them potential applicants for the jobs that are available at present. CAREERS members were trained by an HR professional prior to this event to advise students on what works and what doesn’t and to provide practical pointers on how to improve CVs and tailor it to the needs of the current labor market.

In addition to the focus on CVs, there were around 135 students who attended 3 workshops that were conducted by HR professionals to compliment the work of the CV clinic. One of the workshops was conducted by Ernst and Young about ‘CV writing and Interview skills’ where it focused on the dos and don’ts in the CV writing as well as the interview process.

Another workshop ‘My life, My Choice’, conducted by Du, emphasized the importance of the paradigm shift students need to make while thinking about the choices they make for their lives.

DWC Alumnae from Nakheel presented the third workshop on ‘The Importance of CV and interviews’. She was able to give students a realistic perspective from the employer’s as well as the student’ s point of view on the importance of CV writing and interview etiquette.
