Dubai Customs sponsors Holy Quran Memorization project during Ramadan

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai Customs launched the first Ramadan event by sponsoring the Holy Quran Memorization Project which takes place from 1st to 20th Ramadan 1432 at Al Siddiq Center for Holy Quran Memorization in Dubai with the participation of 50 children, male and female, from Dubai Customs employees’ children, and the local community and of different origins.
Speaking on this occasion, Mrs. Feryal Tawakul, Executive Director of Community Affairs and Government Partnership at Dubai Customs said: “This project, which embraces the holy Quran verse : “ and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones” as its slogan, comes as part of the Department’s keenness to develop the Islamic culture and foster the spiritual awareness of our children during the holy month of Ramadan with an aim of encouraging the memorization of the holy Quran and to support the involved people in this matter through developing this significant sacred aspect in the society as well as encouraging employees’ children to positively invest their leisure time in a way that benefits them and the society as a whole.
It’s worth mentioning that last year, and due to the great interest in this course shown by Dubai Customs employees enrolling their children, the number of participations went up to 50- of 7-years old and above for this year. People in the community were also informed about the project through the social networks websites such as Facebook and Twitter, during which this project has attracted 30 participants of different origins.
It’s worth mentioning that this project incorporates different Quran-related activities including Quran memorization and explanation. It also encourages and qualifies the participants to enter the national contest of Quran memorizers for UAE nationals “Al Hafeth Al Mowaten”. Al Siddiq Holy Quran Center is considered one of Holy Quran memorization centers in Dubai, of which many of its students have won the national contest several times.
This initiative is only one of many other initiative which Dubai Customs is planning to launch during the holy month such as giving away Ramadan rations “Al Mir Al Ramadani” and meals, holding a series of religious lectures and the Ramadan Contest sponsored by “Nas Air” which rewards winners with round tickets to visit Mecca and perform Umrah.
