Dubai Cruise Terminal, operated by global marine terminal operator DP World, and managed by Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM), has been voted the Middle East’s Leading Cruise Port for a fourth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards 2011.

The prestigious award was received on behalf of DP World by Tariq Bin Khalifa, Director, Account Management, DP World, UAE Region, at a gala red-carpet ceremony held at the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa on Monday (May 2). The event was attended by hundreds of top executives and professionals of the travel and leisure industry.

The recognition reaffirms Dubai Cruise Terminal’s undisputed position as the cruise hub of the region. It first won the award in 2008 and has since been consistently voted as the leader in its class in the Middle East by World Travel Awards. This year, 213,000 industry professionals participated in the voting process, according to the awards organisers.

Spread over 3,300 sq m at Port Rashid and with a capacity to handle two ocean-going cruise vessels simultaneously, Dubai Cruise Terminal has state-of-the-art facilities that have made it one of the most tourist-friendly ports of call.

Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region, said: “This is a proud moment for DP World, UAE Region and the Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM), our partners in promoting cruise tourism. Winning this coveted award for the fourth time in a row reaffirms our belief that the Dubai Cruise Terminal is developing in the right direction as a significant contributor to the growth of Dubai’s tourism sector. We thank the World Travel Awards for the recognition of the commitment and hard work put in by all those involved in delivering world class service. It will encourage DP World, UAE Region to further raise the level of excellence as a cruise terminal operator.”

Dubai Cruise Terminal has also won the World’s Leading Cruise Port award three consecutive times from the World Travel Awards between 2008 and 2010.
