DMA discusses cooperation with the Statistics Center of Abu Dhabi

As part of its commitment to enhance the cooperation between the government entities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA) held a meeting with the Statistics Center at Abu Dhabi (SCAD) to emphasize and discuss future means of cooperation in joint projects.

Ahmed Rashid Al Amri, Acting Director of Interaction& Dispute Management, started the meeting by welcoming the representatives of the Statistics Center and thanked them for their cooperation and for holding the meeting. Al Amri highlighted how the DMA and the three municipalities of the Abu Dhabi Emirate: Abu Dhabi Municipality, Al Ain Municipality and the Western Region municipality, are working to achieve the Government’s vision of enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

Hasan Jafri, Head of Strategic Planning & Performance Management, presented the vision, mission, and role of the Statistics Center as a government entity responsible to build and organize the statistical system of the Abu Dhabi Emirate, as well as providing official and accurate statistics to the business community and the public.

The two sides expressed their desire to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future through which they will provide a mechanism for future cooperation between the two entities. This MoU will also encourage more investment opportunities for both entities, which will leader to offering best services and efficient information to the public. Mr. Jafri also pointed out the classification of the surveys, which actually defines the role of each government entity, and these classifications are economic, social and environmental.

The meeting was attended by Jehad Al Mughairbi, Acting Director of Municipal Training, Waleed Al Hameri, Head of Citizens Complaints, Prof. Allam Ahmed, Consultant of Knowledge Management, Abdelatif Hegazy, Consultant - Excellence Leader, Hasan Al-Lawghani, Coordinator of Inter-departmental Cooperation, Asma Al Marzouqi, Public Relations Coordinator, and Fatima Faraj, an Administrative Assistant. The statistics center representatives included Abdul Hameed Al Wahedi, Head of PMO, Mohamed Bani Hashem, Head of Policy, Jasim Alqubaisi, Head of Survey and Census Planning, and Dr. Terfa Al Sharyani Head of Environment & Energy.

This was the first meeting with the Statistics Centre, and both the DMA and the SCAD representatives stressed the importance of continuing to hold such meetings for further cooperation between the entities. During the meeting, both entities expressed their desire to share knowledge and experience of the 2012 survey and to take advantage it, especially that the DMA is willing to conduct a survey to determine the customer satisfaction towards the services provided by the municipal system to the residents of the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

It was established on 28 April 2008, in accordance with Law No. (7) 2008, promulgated under a decree by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (may Allah protect him). The Law entrusts SCAD with the task of developing and organizing statistical work including the production, analysis, and dissemination of official statistics in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
