According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, official statistics issued by the Central Statistics Bureau show that $384 million (YR 70 billion) worth of investments were pumped into the Yemeni real estate sector last year compared with YR 42 billion in the previous year.
The same source added that 3,897 permits were issued to establish new buildings, 1,482 permits were issued to expand existing buildings, 21 permits were issued to change existing buildings and 48 permits were issued for repairing existing buildings. The same source estimated at 2 million square meters the total licensed areas for new buildings last year.
