Yemen needs to create at least188,000 new jobs to meet the annual growth in labor force and to solve the country's unemployment crisis. A survey, conducted recently by Yemen's Labor Market Program, has also indicated that 93% of local industrial and trading establishments suffer from low skilled and trained labor.
The study expects an increase in Yemen's unemployment rates to 17% by 2006 compared to 11.5% in 1999.
