The names of 50 potential investors have reportedly been chosen by the UAE's premier property developer, Nakheel, to view portions of 'The World,' a group of 303 man-made islands off the coast of Dubai.
Part of the formal direct sale process, this is the first time Nakheel is inviting people to view the islands. Nakheel representatives will send 50 invitations to celebrities, prominent business people and "inspirational leaders" to view pieces of The World.
The individuals, whose identity has so far been kept secret by the company, will reportedly include Hollywood celebrities, wealthy Gulf businessmen and European royalty, amongst others. All the names that will receive the invitations are "very recognizable names," according to Gulf News.
"Owning an island on The World is not for everyone, even if they have the money. We are building the most prestigious address on the planet here and we have to carefully pick and chose those that want to live here," a company representative stated.
Some 90 per cent of the reclamation work has been completed so far on project, while 35 per cent of the islands have been sold.
There are 100 islands in the private estates section of The World, while the rest will be set aside for the development of residential units, hotels and tourist facilities.
