Construction work on the $3.4 billion Dubai Metro project will start by the end of the next month. The work will start at 35 sites simultaneously as logistics for the civil work, ground digging and viaducts are being finalised at these places, said a Gulf News report quoting Engineer Abdul Majeed Khaja, director of Dubai Metro (Dubai Light Rail Project) at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The project would be constructed in two phases within a period of 55 months with phase one taking 49 months and phase two 35 months.
