ALBAWABA - Gautam Adani, an Indian billionaire, businessman, and the founder and chairman of the Adani Group, a multinational conglomerate involved in port development and operations in India, was recently accused in a bribery incident worth approximately $265 million in the US.

Who is Gautam Adani

Adani is considered Asia’s second-richest person, with a net worth of approximately $57.7 billion. The Indianan businessman and billionaire is currently facing an arrest warrant and multiple potential penalties after being accused in a major bribery incident in the US, worth $265 million.

The 62-year-old businessman was born in 1962 in Ahmedabad city, he dropped school at the age of 16. In 1988, he started his trading business. According to Forbes, he is currently the 25th richest person in the world.

Following the recent recharges, his businesses, that range from power to ports and trading, lost nearly $150 billion. The Adani Group denied all received charges in the time being.

It is worth noting that Adani congratulated President-elect Donald Trump by saying: "The embodiment of unbreakable tenacity, unshakeable grit, relentless determination and the courage to stay true to his beliefs.”

Previously, Adani stated that his company plans to invest nearly $10 billion in US energy and infrastructure projects, aiming to create 15,000 available jobs in the US market.

Gautam Adani is the second-richest person in India, according to Forbes Asia’s list of India’s 100 richest people released in October 2024. His net worth is estimated at approximately $68 billion, with his businesses spanning power generation, airports, mining, ports, and cement.
